2011 Kellerei Kaltern Caldaro Pinot Bianco WeissburgunderMedium yellow in the glass, this Alto Adige Pinot Blanc offers a big noseful of Asian pear. The bright, fresh fruity flavors are of apples, pears and Meyer lemons. Nice level of acidity on the finish.

Perfect to serve summer party guests as they munch on light appetizers.

2008 St Michael Eppan Weissburgunder Pinot Bianco

Although from Alto Adige, this fragrant white is clearly made in a German manner.  This greenish-hued pinot blanc offers green apple on the nose and ripe pear in the mouth. A friend sampling it with me said “nice acidity” upon sipping it and she was right, lots of acidity, long finish and a super food-friendly wine.
